The Word for today

“I have seen everything in this meaningless life, including the death of good young people and the long life of wicked people. So don’t be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself? On the other hand, don’t be too wicked either. Don’t be a fool! Why die before your time?” (Ecclesiastes 7:15-17 NLT)

So, in this blog we will be serious, but not too serious. We might laugh, but let’s hold it to a snicker. Let’s don’t die before our time.

The saga of Jesus’ wife

Harvard’s Karen King announced at a 2012 scholarly conference in Rome that a fragment of an authentic fourth-century gospel had gospel-of-jesus-wife-papyrus-416x243come into her hands in which Jesus, speaking in the first person, refers to “my wife.”

In “The Saga of ‘The Gospel of Jesus’ Wife’” in the May/June 2015 issue of Biblical Archaeology Review, BAR editor Hershel Shanks describes the tale of this controversial papyrus fragment. Less than a week after the publication of the Coptic fragment in Harvard Theological Review and the release of other fragments from the collection, a Coptic manuscripts expert demonstrated “beyond doubt” that the Gospel of Jesus’ Wife was a forgery.

However, the past few months have seen many scholars and theologians put forth their arguments pro and con. Doubtless, the liberals would like to prove it is authentic in its suggestion that Jesus had a wife. Carbon-14 dating has varied from before the time of Jesus to 800 years after. Typical. The Bible would not have ignored such a fact, but the Gnostics loved to stir up controversy through speculation. Those who wish to keep up with the continuing saga may visit http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/biblical-topics/new-testament/the-gospel-of-jesus-wife-papyrus-revisited/ or any number of other sites devoted to the fragment.

What a strange twist of history

Dozens of Ethiopian Christians rounded up in Libya have been executed. One of the charges against them was their “heretical” belief in the doctrine of the Trinity. For hundreds of years, Christians were martyred by the institutional church for believing in only one divine Person rather than three in a trinity of equal divine persons. A strange twist, indeed.

twistedDescribing the 30-minute propaganda video released Sunday, Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) explained: “The exact numbers of victims in the latest incident cannot be confirmed. The video of the executions, entitled ‘Until there came to them clear evidence,’ switches between a scene on a beach in eastern Libya, where an estimated 15 men in orange boiler suits are beheaded by masked militants in camouflage, and a scene in a desert area in southern Libya where similarly dressed Daesh (ISIS) members execute a similar number of men in black boiler suits by shooting them in the head. A subtitle refers to both groups of victims as ‘worshippers of the cross belonging to the hostile Ethiopian church.’

“The video also includes scenes depicting the destruction of churches in Syria and Iraq and condemns the doctrine of the Trinity as a form of apostasy. Prior to the executions, an English-speaking masked narrator dressed in black warns that ‘the nation of the cross’ must either embrace Islam, pay the jizya tax or face death.”

Is America still a nation of the cross?

Top 7 Morons of 2014:  (How many do you recognize)

1. WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP???
AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months,
saying he lacked intellectual leadership. He received a
$26 million severance package. Perhaps it’s not Walter who’smorons-y-u-no-think
lacking intelligence.

2. WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US:
Police in Oakland, CA spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers
discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting, “Please come out and give yourself up!”

3. WHAT WAS PLAN B?
An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts.

4. THE SLOW GETAWAY!
A man walked into a Topeka, KS Kwik Stop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

5. DID I SAY THAT?
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn’t control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words: “Give me all your money or I’ll shoot,” the man shouted, “That’s not what I said!”

morons-940470916926. NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED!
In Modesto , CA , Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun. Unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket. (hellooooooo)!

7. THE GRAND FINALE!
Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t get their brand new 22-foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

More reasons to trust the Bible

Scores of ostraca, pieces of pottery dating to the seventh century B.C. and containing Hebraic inscriptions, have been uncovered in the ruins of Arad, an ancient city and fortress of Judah about 50 miles south of Jerusalem. Some contain JEWISH_TEMPLE00000008-1battle reports when the Babylonians were overrunning the area with help from the Edomites (from across the Jordan and the Dead Sea.)

One ostracon was found to contain the name of God in the message. It reads, “To my lord Eliashib: May YHWH inquire after your well-being. And now, give to Shemaryahu a measure (of flour), and to the Kerosite you will give a measure (of flour).” These ostraca prove the presence of Hebrews in the region in that time period and their recognition of YHWH as their God.

Archaeology keeps finding artifacts that confirm the historical record of the Bible.

Will the skeptics never catch on?

Is “shacking up” a good idea?

Jason Dulle has posted an excellent article on the practice of co-habitation—“The sociology of cohabitation: ‘Shacking up’ isn’t such a good idea after all.” It is recommended reading for every minister and for those who are contemplating a non-marital living arrangement. Fornication is still sin according to the Bible, isn’t it?

They asked for it

A group of British Islamists is calling on Muslims to boycott next month’s U.K. elections, telling candidates across the political spectrum, the U.K. and democracy itself to “go to hell.”

Government Set To Ban Islamist Group That Planned Wootton Bassett March“No to Conservative. No to Labor. No to Liberals. No to UKIP [anti-immigration party]. Yes to Islam!” said prominent Muslim preacher Anjem Choudary, who spoke at a protest where speaker after speaker promoted the idea that Britain should be guided by Islam and Shariah law, not democracy or secular law.

“No to democracy, no to freedom … no to Christianity, no to Judaism … no to democracy. Democracy, go to hell! Democracy, go to hell!” Choudary told the crowd. “[Prime Minister David] Cameron is the enemy of Allah! [Home Secretary] Theresa May is the enemy of Allah!” “The U.K. is the enemy of Allah!” Rahman added.

The rally took place just a few weeks ago as you read this, but excerpts were posted Monday, April 22 by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Liberal immigration policies as some of the European nations have espoused, and America’s open borders idea, encourage and invite that kind of population build-up. When they feel the power, they begin to act. It is like the host nation is asking for trouble.

What’s going on here?

When Islam reveals its dark side, they are awarded more interest, greater accommodation, and increased consideration. The more they attack innocent non-Muslims, they more they are loved and embraced. They are given a pass and excused—patted on the back, as it were. Does that seem strange to you?

I have made the statement that they won the war with one attack on 9/11. After that suicide-america-liberalsim-islam-west-demotivational-poster-1251814914 every conceivable door was opened for them. New courses on Islam were introduced in schools and colleges. Laws for non-discrimination were passed that provided them more freedoms but fewer for Christians. Within seven years we had elected a president who had a Muslim name, had been schooled as a Muslim in his youth, and who had pledged to come down on their side in a political crisis.

Islamists have stepped up their bombing campaign on soft Western targets, killing thousands in the process. The recent attacks in France seems to have earned them even greater respect. Books on Islam have skyrocketed since then. (See link below.) Every day Westerners are volunteering in increasing numbers to fight for ISIS, including over two hundred known conscripts from America. Forty of those are known to have returned to America after having been further trained and radicalized. They are here and waiting for the moment.

America is asleep at the wheel.

How to destroy both country and church

009-dick-lamm400x225At first glance, there might not seem to be a connection between the two entities. Our country is not our church and our church is not our country. We keep them separate so far as authority and control are concerned. However, my point is that the same methods being used to destroy our country can be used to destroy our church. Since second century history proves that the church can be decimated and driven underground, we would be wise to make sure that history does not repeat itself in twenty-first century America.

In 2005 former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm (pictured above) gave a brief speech at a conference in Washington, DC on the topic of immigration. He called the brief three and a half minute speech, “My Plan To Destroy America.” What we are seeing develop in America today suggests that someone read the speech and made it their agenda. Lamm submitted eight points… [to continue reading this excellent article, click the link:

The computer swallowed grandma

Yes, honestly it’s true.

She pressed “control” and “enter”granny-on-pc

And disappeared from view.

It devoured her completely,

The thought just makes me squirm.

She must have caught a virus

Or been eaten by a worm.

I’ve searched through the recycle bin

And files of every kind:

I’ve even used the Internet,

But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Jeeves my searches to refine.

The reply from him was negative,

Not a thing was found “online.”

So, if inside your “Inbox,”

My Grandma you should see,

Please “Copy,” “Scan” and “Paste” her

And send her back to me!

How did they get into college?

If you looked up the word failure in the dictionary, you might find a picture of a public school beside it. Please take a moment and check out the IQ of these college students.

http://safeshare.tv/w/oHbxeOtsOP

System-FailureHow can Americans look askance at Apostolics for taking a stand against TV when ignorance is what it promotes?

Remember, these idiots will be voting in the next election.

I publicly asked three teenagers, ages 13-16 in our church the same questions and they promptly answered them all correctly, but knew nothing about Snookie (whoever that is), or Brad Pitt’s wives. That should tell us that homeschooling our kids and keeping TVs out of their lives are key ingredients in quality education.

Move over God, Hillary is coming to change our beliefs

Hillary Clinton has given us a look at some of the changes that she wants to see under her Hillary Clinton testifiesadministration should she be elected as president. Speaking about abortion “rights” for all women everywhere, regardless of the rights of individuals and business owners that are being forced to violate their religious convictions, she said, “Deep-seated cultural codes and religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

http://www.theblaze.com/contributions/hillary-clintons-plan-to-change-your-deep-seated

Perhaps she will introduce a new Bible that will accommodate her own beliefs that babies are merely “blobs and products of conception” until birth. If America chooses to elect her, then America deserves her.

Frat boys from a college recently taunted veterans on a beach in Florida, urinated on the American flag, and spat on a service dog. That would not have been tolerated when I was growing up. Seems college is all about social engineering, and steering our youth away from loyalty, patriotism, and the Constitution. That’s the result of professorial tenure for liberal instructors, and taking so much government money that no local controls are in place anymore.

I need answers

Should the government force a gay print shop to print “God Hates F**gs” signs for Westboro Baptist Church?

Should a black baker be required to bake a cake for a KKK leader’s wedding?KKK-asking-black-baker-for-wedding-cake

How can the President call for mandatory voting when he missed 324 roll call votes as Senator?

How can Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) inveigh against the high cost of college and student debt when she makes more than $400,000 teaching one class at Harvard?

How can Hillary Clinton not know how to manage two email accounts at once but figure she should be allowed to manage the country?

Bill O’Reilly and I want to know why America’s Christian leaders are silent on the terrorism and genocide Christians are experiencing in Muslim countries.

And what is going on with the closing of the Wal-Marts across the country? It has something to do with Jade Helm (Google this), the government’s planned, months long exercise to practice for putting down uprisings and kidnapping those who resist in this country. Why are Tea Party members and conservatives being called “terrrorists”? What really is ahead for America? Obama and Hillary know. Why won’t they tell us?
