The Word for Today

“So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. 37 For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. 38 And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away” (Hebrews 10:35-39 NLT).

For the times

Make sure you test positive for the faith. Keep a safe distance from doubt. Isolate unbelief. Know the objectives of the voices to which you listen.

Can you trust the UN/WHO doctors regarding covid-19? An interesting report that we found helpful can be accessed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_EwxG8YZ50

Just before publication of this blog, they removed the doctors testimony from the Internet. It didn’t accommodate the official narrative; rather it was more of an exposé. However, the doctors were interviewed on Fox News by Laura Ingraham. The YouTube editors must have received so much flak from the public that they restored it. With all the info flowing to us, much of which is conflicting, we are required to sift through it to find the truth. Wisdom seems to dictate to err on the side of caution, and to be as safe as possible even as we return to gathering at church. Merging official directives, prayer and common sense should bring us to the best choices as we deal with this health crisis.

Virus never stops revival

What has been exciting is that some folks who weren’t really into outreach and evangelism have gotten involved. The results are amazing. As we were preparing for a recorded service one day, one of our newest converts brought a couple to the church to be baptized. He had given them a Bible study and they were ready to obey the gospel. As soon as they were baptized, another call came that a lady who was suffering from cancer wanted to be baptized. As the name of Jesus was called over these folks, we realized how ingathering can continue even when we are not allowed to have church as usual.

This health crisis has motivated both Christians and non-Christians people to do some self-evaluation on their own. And if we can keep the message of salvation flowing out from church services, home Bible studies, and personal witnessing, God will continue to give the increase.

Jesus and the Father

“I and my Father are one…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 10:30; 14:9).

Although Trinitarians sometimes mock Oneness believers, claiming that we think Jesus is His own Father, we would never put it just like that. But we are not afraid to say what the Scriptures say—they are “one.”

Trinitarians jump through semantical hoops to attempt to explain Jesus’ statements by saying they are one like a husband and wife are one (Genesis 2:24). However, what man would say, “When you have seen me, you have seen my wife”?

How can Jesus be both the Father and the Son? From a Trinitarian standpoint, it is incomprehensible. In human reasoning it is a legitimate question. The Scriptures hold the answer.

In Isaiah 9:6 we are told of a Son and a Father who were the same entity: “[A] son is given…his name shall be called…the everlasting Father.” The BIble never speaks of God as “they…them…themselves,” as though God was a plurality of divine beings. God always represented Himself as one: “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

In biblical jargon, Jesus can be both the Father and the Son just as He can be both the root and the offspring of David (Revelation 22:16), and both the Creator and the creature (Colossians 1:15,16), both the purchaser and the price of redemption (Acts 20:28; Matthew 27:9; I Corinthians 6:20),  both the High Priest and the sacrifice (Hebrews 2:17; 9:26), both the Lion and the Lamb (Revelation 5:5; John 1:29), both the Shepherd and the door of the sheepfold (John 10:11; 10:7), both the first and the last (Revelation 1:8), and both the beginning and the end (Revelation 21:6).

Believers in the Oneness of God do not fear to exegetically dissect any verse in the Bible. Trinitarians, believers in multiple persons in the Godhead, are forced to read the Scriptures eisegetically, injecting into them their own presuppositions and biased theology.

The Scriptures reveal a unique relationship of God and Christ (deity and man; divine Spirit and human flesh) for which the world has no analogy, no real comparisons, no similies that fit. Jesus Christ was more than just a man, more than just a Nazarene carpenter’s son, a maker of tabletops and wagonwheels—He was God showing Himself to men in flesh (I Timothy 3:16).

As we have heard Clifford Readout, Jr. say so eloquently, “Jesus was the translation of God to men by the Son of God.” God was Spirit, man was flesh, so there had to be a translator, a mediator who spoke both “languages.” Jesus was God translating Himself for men, a self-disclosure of the Infinite by the finite, a rendering of the eternal Spirit by mortal flesh, a revealing of deity by blood and bones. He represented God to men and men to God (I Timothy 2:5). Jesus of the New Testament revealed the God of the Old Testament.

We can understand and relate to Jesus because He was one of us. The disciples knew Him, touched Him, handled Him, John said, calling Him the very “word of life” (I John 1:1). God came as the man Jesus Christ to speak to men at their level, manifesting the wisdom and power of God (I Corinthians 1:24). In this He did not fail, as Isaiah had so accurately predicted long ago (Isaiah 42:3,4).

Jesus was not just a man with a message, He was God’s message wrapped up in a man (John 1:1)! He was the eternal Word pushed through the birth canal of human experience, the visible form of the one invisible God (John 12:45). Who but Jesus could say, “I came but I was already here…I am going away but I will never leave you?”  (John 8:56-58; John 16:7; Matthew 28:20). What a wonder He is!

Trinitarianism is men defining God in pagan terms but Jesus Christ is God defining Himself. The term “eternal Son of God” is a Trinitarian invention not found in Scripture. Jesus Himself is the final authority on who and what God is.

“Let God be true, but every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).

A Defense of the Use of the Bible in Schools

By Dr. Benjamin Rush (1745-1813), distinguished physician and signer of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Dr. Benjamin Rush was an outspoken Christian, statesman, and pioneering medical doctor. He was a prolific author, publishing the first American chemistry textbook. In 1797, President John Adams appointed Rush as Treasurer of the U.S. Mint, a position he held until 1813. He also founded America’s first Bible society. At the time of his death in 1813, he was heralded as one of the three most notable figures of America, the other two being George Washington and Benjamin Franklin.

This booklet, published in the late 1700s, was an appeal to keep the Bible as a primary textbook. Below is a link to the article, which I trust you will read and pass along to your friends, especially to all of the teachers in your church. It is unnerving to see how far America has drifted from the ideals of the founders. Can the sharp left turns be steered back toward a more sensible approach—regarding education in particular? It depends on US! Every pastor and parent would do their family a favor by reading and taking to heart the message of Dr. Rush. Click on the link below and read the article, then pass it on.

Harvard professor wants to ban homeschooling because it’s “authoritarian

She wants the government to have authority over your children, not you. This is the kind of clap-trap that is banded about in college publications and classrooms today. Read about it here:

https://nypost.com/2020/04/23/harvard-professor-wants-to-ban-authoritarian-homeschooling/

I would be comfortable saying that any 10 randomly chosen homeschoolers could beat any 10 randomly chosen public school kids in a test on basic subjects.

Who is surprised?

Authorities arrested an 18-year-old student at Rhinelander High School in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, after the student allegedly sexually assaulted one of his fellow students. A spokesperson for the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place in the school’s gender-neutral restroom. The school had refurbished a former men’s restroom and turned it into a gender-neutral space in order to make comfortable the students who were transgender or “gender expansive.”

The school has now closed the restroom to its student population.

School administrators just don’t seem to get it. Falling all over themselves to accommodate the LGBTQCORECTUMSHYLAG movement is never going to overcome human tendency toward such occurrences. And whatever they do will never be enough to make that movement “comfortable.” They will never be satisfied. Wake up.

Hypocrisy on parade

The Democrat governor of Connecticut expressed “heartbroken sadness” that a six-week old baby was brought to a local hospital unresponsive and could not be revived. He claimed the child was the youngest fatality to covid-19 “anywhere.” Mothers went berserk at the news that their babies could die from this virus. When the truth came out, the baby died from an incident in the home. Covid-19 did not kill the baby. But the crocodile tears and “heartbroken sadness” were hypocritical and politically evoked. As a “pro-choice” advocate, just six weeks ago he would have approved the mother’s right to kill the baby, using a Planned Parenthood doctor as the “hit man.”

Follow the money…and the politics! One of our relative’s relative by marriage, an elderly person, recently died from a stroke. The hospital told the family that they would be putting on the death certificate that she died of Covid-19. They knew it was a source of funds from the Fed’s “stash.” The family said, “Absolutely not. She died of a stroke.” One wonders just how much “doctoring” of the reports is really going on.

Is anyone watching and listening?

“The American people will eventually fly the Communist Red flag…the American people will hoist it themselves.” – Former Russian Premier Nikita Khrushchev

A variety of leftist groups use radical environmentalism as ideological packaging to carry out street actions advocating revolution. For example, if the United States has a “People’s Climate Movement,” you should know that it is a product of the communist-led parties. In the United States, the organizations involved are the Communist Party USA, Socialism in Action, the Maoist American Revolutionary Communist Party, Ecological Society, Socialist Workers, Alternative Socialism, American Democratic Socialism, Free Socialism, and others. They hosted the People’s Climate Rally and the People’s Climate Parade. Slogans at these rallies have included “System change, not climate change,” “Capitalism is killing us,” “Capitalism is destroying the environment…Capitalism is killing the planet,” and “Fight for a socialist future.”

These groups, with a sea of red flags, have marched in many major cities in the United States, including Washington. With more and more communist and socialist elements to strengthen environmentalism, “green peace” has made a full transition to red revolution.

In 2006 a British diplomat said in a public speech that those who doubt climate change should be treated by the media no differently than terrorists, and that they should not be given a platform to speak. (Wkl)

Restricting the right to think and express those thoughts is one of the ways communism divorces people from a concept of good and evil based on universal values. As long as we let them teach socialism and anti-American garbage in our schools, we will be pushed toward fulfillment of Khruschev’s prophecy.

Note: The Hollywood actor who recently cried, “Capitalism is killing us!” has no concept of reality or history. Capitalism has grown a country from nothing to be the greatest nation in history. It has granted its citizens the freedom to develop the highest standard of living on the planet, and given idiots like him an opportunity to speak their mind, regardless how shallow and uninformed he may be. Remember: Hate speech is just free speech that Leftists don’t like.

A Message to Immigrants

If you want to immigrate or have immigrated from another country to America, you know you can—our laws permit it. If you come because you want to share in the relative prosperity of our people, if you yearn for the freedom our citizens enjoy, and if you are willing to be assimilated into the culture of American freedom—welcome! Our arms are open to you, regardless of your race, ethnicity, skin color or religion.

You may continue to hold the personal values that you held in the country of your origin as long as they do not conflict with U.S. laws or infringe upon the traditions our citizens cherish and revere. Most Americans are Christians and embrace the Judeo-Christian ethic, as it is known, but you may worship whom or what you please; that is, as long it does not encourage the violation of our laws or tends to deny present citizens the right to continue to worship and practice religion as we have since the founding of our nation.

If you want to come here because you do not like the oppressive government of your homeland, we understand, but do not come with the aim of changing ours to accommodate your personal preferences. Do not attempt to force Americans to acquiesce to your ways by altering ours. Do not hope to take apart what our founding fathers put together by grit and grace and personal sacrifice. We want to continue to sing our songs, recite our pledges, raise our monuments, and uphold our values without threat from those within or without our borders. Early Americans bought this freedom with blood, sweat and tears, and their descendants have paid for its maintenance since then with their lives and treasure. We want to keep America strong and free so that others like you may come and find opportunity and hope.

However, if you do not like our laws, our culture, or the freedoms we enjoy, you may want to look elsewhere. There are almost two hundred nations in the world. Perhaps one of the others would be a better choice. But if it is liberty you seek—both your own and the retention of ours—it is here, as our lady standing in New York harbor proudly proclaims.

Welcome!

Guess who does not want a border wall:

  • MS-13 gang members
  • Terrorists who want in to do us harm
  • Democrats

Don’t be fooled

If you believe that the current emphasis on environmentalism and climate change is merely a compassionate view of our responsibility to care for the earth, there is some oceanfront property in Kansas you might be interested in purchasing. Atmospheric shifts and temperature variances on the earth’s surface have been around at least since Genesis 6.

On the first Earth Day in 1970, they were warning of a new ice age that seemed to be approaching. Now, only 48 years later, they are decrying global warming and a greenhouse effect. Make no mistake, E-ism is just part of the agenda to ultimately have the state assume the ownership and/or management of our nation’s industries. They want to take commercial businesses and industry from private hands and place it under complete control of the government. Maybe they want to create a utopia like that in Venezuela. Check out the streets in the two largest California cities from which many environmentalists hail. Why don’t they start there where the homeless are spreading human waste all over the place?

Vaclav Klaus, the former president of the Czech Republic, a former Soviet state, said: “Communism was replaced by the threat of ambitious environmentalism.”

C’mon students and millennials—get a grip. Learn to identify subversive anti-American politics when you hear it and see it.

Just so you know

Free enterprise: An economic system in which citizens may own private property, and businesses operate in competition and largely free of state control.

Capitalism: An economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. This keeps more money in the hands of private citizens who generally prove they know better how to handle it than does the government.

Socialism: A political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned and/or regulated by the state. In Marxist theory, it is a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of Communism. Wealth is managed by the bureaucrats embedded in the government. The press and information sources are controlled by the state, as apparently are many college students and millennials.

Communism: A political theory derived from Karl Marx and leading to a society in which all commercial property is state owned and workers are paid on a scale determined by the state. China, Russia, and North Korea are examples of communist states. Personal freedom is virtually nil.

Fascism is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy. It came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.

Restructuring America

Democrats are pushing for a total restructuring of our government using the covid-19 as an excuse. Naturally, they want the restructuring to embrace all the left-wing ideologies that are being floated by the new congresswomen in Washington. We seem to be allowing them to make headway with their stinking thinking.

The more illegals we embrace, the more we divide our nation into various “identities,” and the more liberal women (and men!) we elect to powerful political positions, the more movement we will see toward socialism and leftist policies. Parents, if that is what you want, do nothing. If, however, you love your children and desire the best future for them, and esteem Judeo-Christian values, run from every Democrat who picks up a microphone. Sadly, that party has been hijacked by socialists, communists, and liberals of every stripe. Speak up, talk to your family, resist fear. If we refuse to do those things NOW, weeping will have a prominent place in your future. Our children’s future will be lived in a totally different system than what you see in America today. Peek over into Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, China, Russia—or, God forbid, Iran or Saudi Arabia—for a glimpse of the existence they might experience as a result of our mental laziness and apathy.

Are we suggesting that women are incapable of serving as politicians, judges or other public officials? Of course not. But we can’t stick our heads in the sand and deny that most of current crop is there to transform the American system. Revisit the President’s State of the Union message and watch the women in white—pro-socialism, anti-American, anti-Christian activists—and watch the Leader In White tear up the President’s speech before the world.

Most of them represent the changes that are moving the nation farther left through the carrot stick of equality idealism. It is born of a natural inclination. Women are care-givers by nature. They are intrinsically bent toward compassion for those they perceive to be mistreated or the most vulnerable in society. They are usually motivated to get into politics to change things in favor of “the little person” they subconsciously view as “children” who need their loving care. Many of those “children” turn out to be gay activists, or homeless, the new immigrant, or other women who claim not to be receiving a fair shake. This plays out as the promotion of socialism.

How near are we to becoming a socialist state? A friend sent his opinion: “The next generation, maybe 20 years, or less. Kids today are educated with a socialist bent. The majority of immigrants want a socialist big government. Over one million illegal immigrants are pouring in each year. We need zero for a while. In 1984, Reagan won Texas by 27 points. Trump won Texas by only 9.” Go figure.
