The Word for Today

When everything was ready, the Lord said to Noah, ‘Go into the boat with all your family, for among all the people of the earth, I can see that you alone are righteous. Take with you seven pairs—male and female—of each animal I have approved for eating and for sacrifice, and take one pair of each of the others.’” (Genesis 7:1-2 NLT). “Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female’” (Matthew 19:4 NLT).

[Oops…Evidently, no one had informed the Lord or Noah that other genders and polyamorous groups had apparently developed since creation, and that they were being omitted from among the flood survivors. I guess they all perished in that judgment. Among the human survivors there only were four couples of men and wives, males and females, saved. In the seventeen biblical references where genders are mentioned, only two are listed—male and female. President Lincoln once put a question to some politicians: If you called a dog’s tail a leg, how many legs would he have? No, not five. Only four. Just because you call a dog’s tail a leg didn’t make it one. Just because someone calls themselves something they actually are not doesn’t make it true.]

Bookburning in the digital age

“Since the death of George Floyd, it has become apparent that we must censor any form of media that could be considered ‘offensive’ to anyone, anywhere. Rest in Power, George Floyd.”1 The Cancel Culture is targeting the printed page.

National Public Radio (NPR) is a liberal-guided, government sponsored broadcast heard across our nation and received in many nations around the world. A program which aired on June 6, and was followed by an article titled Your Bookshelf May Be Part of the Problem, has evoked memories of the bookburnings of the past.

The heart of the story was the suggestion that “white people need to examine their bookshelves and see if they are only reading authors who look like them.” That would be a racist comment if the person made the same suggestion to people of color regarding black authors. The story then suggests people expand their reading lists to include more diverse authors and viewpoints. “Reading broadly and with intention is how we counter dehumanization and demand visibility, effectively bridging the gap between what we read and how we might live in a more just and equitable society,” they said.

My, what a word picture into which to frame one’s own racism. Denials all around, however, would be forthcoming should they hear such an opinion. It is widely known that NPR is fairly consistent in its slanted news and support for socialist causes. They can see racism everywhere except in their own reports. Don’t you just feel warm and fuzzy that millions of your tax dollars fund NPR to broadcast leftist ideals? Defund the NPR.

What revolutionary forces in America are into is bookburning in the digital age. They are coming after the conservative book publishers. Blocking their sale sites on the Internet is on the agenda. The “cancel culture” wants to shut down your access to all news outlets that do not propagate the revolutionary narrative. That is the fascist way, the totalitarian way, the communist way. Revolutions are usually begun with the brainwashing of students in public schools and universities, closing their minds and motivating them to censor all opposing views. It was the students who led the bookburnings in Nazi Germany in 1933.

Wikipedia lists 198 incidences of bookburning over the centuries, most by the author’s political opponents. In the process, some very important biblical manuscripts have been among the works that were burned.

China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuangdi (259-210 B.C.) completely altered the nation’s history by demanding the destruction of all literature with Confucian philosophy. Anecdotes—without definitive proof—also link Qin to the live burial genocide of scholars he deemed culturally threatening. (Likely no protesters showed up carrying signs reading, “I Can’t Breathe.”) Modern communists in China seem to have bookburnings on the calendar during every decade.

The Nalanda University and its library in India allegedly took months to fully burn to the ground when ransacked by Muslim invaders in 1197. In the fifth century, this most resplendent educational institution of its time launched many common higher-ed standards still in use today, such as entrance exams and student housing. Eventually, it came to host the then-largest collection of important Buddhist and Hindu texts. Muslims prefer all literature that opposes Islam to be burned.

On December 20, 1409 Pope Alexander V issued a papal bull that empowered the illiterate Prague Archbishop Házmburka to proceed against Wycliffism in that city. All copies of Wycliffe’s writings were to be surrendered, his doctrines repudiated, and free preaching discontinued. The Wycliffe books and valuable manuscripts were burned in the court of the Archbishop’s palace.

Girolamo Savonarola of Florence, before his excommunication as a Dominican cleric, tried to cleanse Italian society of all things he deemed too decadent or pagan. In 1497, more than just books ended up in his massive bonfires, including art, mirrors, makeup, music, clothing types, games, and other aesthetic or luxury goods. It has since been known as the Bonfire of the Vanities.

Today’s historians are fortunate to know anything about the Mayan civilization at all since the Mexican Catholic Bishop of Yucatan Diego de Landa’s purging of its productions on July 12, 1561.

Beginning on May 10, 1933, Nazi-dominated student groups carried out public burnings of books they claimed were “un-German.” The burnings took place in 34 university towns and cities. Works of prominent Jewish or anti-Nazi writers ended up in the bonfires. The bookburnings stood as a powerful symbol of Nazi intolerance and censorship. The Nazi regime raided book stores, libraries, and publishers’ warehouses to confiscate and burn materials it deemed dangerous or “un-German.”

Could it happen here? Not only could but probably will.

Is your church sufficiently “diverse”?

Continued fervent advocacy of “diversity,” ordinarily a good word and a great concept, will not likely have a positive outcome, either in religious or political contexts. The reason: there is no place for it to stop, certainly not with race and nationality. It plays into the hands of those pushing “identity politics.” Always remember: its cup is never full.

On a wet, snowy day, start a snowball rolling down from the top of a long hill. Theoretically, by the time it has reached the bottom, it might be the size of a building, destroying everything in its path. “Ah, it is just a harmless snowball. And snowballs are good things, often marking fun times.” That is the way virtually every social engineering movement begins. Now it is just a nice little political theory, or a nifty idea to make a small group of people more visible, but later it may be ravaging whole communities and even nations.

Diversity has taken on many hues and dimensions in recent years, but let us focus on one. Diversity of nationalities and skin colors in a Christian congregation is no problem—a good thing. However, overemphasis on that aspect can invite compromise in order to achieve it when pressured to establish it as a goal. “Whosoever will” is still the gospel’s objective, and should not be discarded in the attempt to “represent our community in appearance” at all costs. The church that draws racial lines is itself out of line, but there is no scriptural mandate that every congregation have people in it to “represent” those of a particular background or skin tone who may reside in their county. The gospel is provided for “all men everywhere” (Acts 17:30). The church should never pass up anyone because of skin color or ethnicity.

Is it just congregations that are all or mostly Caucasian that are being urged toward diversity, or are the African-American churches, the Native American churches, the Indian churches, and the Hispanic churches being urged to evangelize among Caucasians in order to have a “representation” of them in their congregations? Is it a one-way street?

When the church I attend was smaller, a visiting minister from a large city with a sizeable congregation chided us because at that time he didn’t see enough people of a certain racial identity in our small group. Perhaps we should have mentioned the large population of Jews in his city and asked how many he had in his church. My guess would be not many, if even one. People that live in glass houses….

[In the current climate, almost everyone who addresses cultural issues is labeled a racist. In my case, it would be a lie, but such accusations and lies are a dime a dozen today. And the rule of thumb now is if you deny it, it is an admission of guilt. I have been in ministry, pastoring and teaching in visible situations for 65 years. In none of those positions, including the present one, has anyone been excluded based on race, skin color or ethnicity.]

CNN host Don Lemon touts “imperfect” Jesus

“Jesus Christ, if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ, admittedly was not perfect when he was here on this earth,” Lemon shrugged. “So why are we deifying the founders of this country, many of whom owned slaves?”

Who responded to that stupid statement? Not a preacher but a coach! Tony Dungy, former coach of an NFL football team, responded with this: “If you don’t agree with the fact that Jesus was sinless on earth then you can throw out the whole Bible because that’s the premise Christianity stands on.” Right on, Tony. We are with you and Pilate: “[We] find in Him no fault at all” (John 18:38).

Worthy observations:

• Communism is for the masses, not the communists. [gopusa]

• Wonder how long it will be until people are sent to the Gulag for leaving their mask at home. Heil…! – Leonidas

• We have seen a little of what real communism would be like. In CHAZ they took one man’s computer and other things and told him that a “disadvantaged person” there needed them more than he did. He was to think of it as an “unplanned donation.” That is the communist way of enforcing “equality.”

• If those on the right were really wrong about the BLM, Antifa, and the commies, they wouldn’t have to employ censorship.

• Yale epidemiology professor, Dr. Harvey Risch, said Tuesday on Fox News that he believes the President Trump-touted drug, hydroxychloroquine, could save up to 100,000 lives if used properly to treat the coronavirus. But it doesn’t fit the narrative in this propaganda war.

• When unwanted pregnancy occurs, some women kill the baby in the womb. This is called abortion, and women influenced by the feminist movement claim the right on the basis of “It’s my body and I should have total control over it.” How will this “right” be exercised when mandatory vaccinations are in place? We may then see how much control one can exhibit over his or her body.

Glaring hypocrisy

CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta, where social liberals champion communist causes, witnessed first-hand the destruction that violent riots can cause. After rioters had broken out the glass doors of the building’s entrance, they had to have police and their own security guards keep them from entering the facility. Why didn’t they let them in to plunder the studios of the talking heads who were promoting their own version of kristalnacht? And where was all that security when the mom and pop store down the street was broken into and the elderly proprietors beaten with boards? CNN and similar media need to understand that mob rule will ultimately play no favorites. All white- and right-run corporations are in the crosshairs of the anarchists.

The cable news network, justifiably, wants to keep unwanted intruders from entering their facility. After the riots, they decided that installing a wall is the best method to achieve that purpose. Social media observers were quick to point out the hypocrisy of CNN building reinforced fencing to protect its headquarters. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) lampooned the network by saying, “Walls Don’t Work,” the mantra CNN repeats regarding a wall at our Southern border.

Why doesn’t CNN tell us what purpose their wall expresses that is different from Trump’s wall? And why does any politician opposing a southern wall have a wall around their house or even a fence? Of course, we know why—to keep unauthorized folks out. Should they not have walls, unauthorized persons might keep trespassing on their property, knocking on their door, and looking in their windows, setting up a tent compound on the lawn, and bringing trash onto the premises. When threatened with those possibilities, what do they do? Build a wall! If you have ever been to almost any country south of the border, outside of the barrios you will see lots of walls around a property’s perimeter—with glass shards embedded in the top course of concrete. Even CHAZ/CHOP in Seattle had set up walls. Why? To keep others out (in that case, particularly the police). How did that hopey changey experiment work out for Seattle?]

So, build the wall and let’s move on.

More hypocrisy

Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has called for the dismantling of not just our nation’s economy, but the entire political system. Add to that her support of “defunding the police” and the “Breathe Act” she is sponsoring along with the rest of the radical Marxist “Squad” members, and you get an idea of their vision for America. Far-left “Squad” members Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) partnered with the coalition Movement for Black Lives in promoting a bill filled with radical proposals.

The two lawmakers reportedly announced the “BREATHE Act” recently in a virtual meeting. It is a bill that includes defunding the police, abolishing ICE, eliminating state gang databases, de-criminalizing prostitution, reducing the Department of Defense budget, establishing a commission to design reparations, de-criminalizes illegal border entry, and develops curricula that “examine the political, economic,  and social impacts of colonialism, genocide against indigenous people, and slavery.” It would also “make recommendations to dramatically reduce the Department of Defense budget. Tlaib described the measure as ushering in a “new vision for public safety.” No police and an impotent military. Wow, what a wonderful program for the American future.

Omar railed against the American economy system as being a “system of oppression” and scolded Americans that we cannot allow people to “prioritize profit without considering who is profiting.” She evidently missed a day in world history class. If being misinformed is skin deep, willful ignorance is to the bone. Why did she scam the immigration system to get to America if it is such an oppressive country?

Speaking of profiting, just ask Omar’s husband Tim Mynett. Mynett runs a consulting company that Omar recently paid over one million $$ for “consulting” and emails and such. Media and Pelosi’s House Ethics Committee: “Nothing to see here.”

Smart saved kids or brainwashed unsaved kids?

Our nation’s children and young adults are being brainwashed about socialist and communist aims which are buried deeply in our government’s public school and college system. Don’t forget that you have the right and the responsibility to teach your children the truth at home and contradict the professors that are dedicated to turning them into mindless robots. Parents should be reminded that in a socialist state everyone is poor and stripped of personal freedom except those in positions of power where corruption is the order of the day.

How can you resist that movement?

First, by homeschooling your children. Early homeschooling not only creates smarter kids but gives them a far better chance of being saved. It is a better choice whenever it can be arranged. For higher education, check out alternative choices—local community colleges, Christian colleges, and private universities that may still be providing real education with a common-sense approach. Vocational and trade schools are out there also. In that vein, remember people with ordinary jobs are generally happier and more apt to be faithful Christians over the long haul than those with “careers” that inhibit Christian service.

Consider online courses that can be done at home that you have scrutinized and determined to be safe and educationally sound. Studying at home has some decided advantages, including remaining in one’s home church.

Second, by removing pride from motivation for degrees. So you graduated from college and want your son or daughter to follow in your footsteps. You must know that it is a different college today than the one you attended when you were 19. Virtually all colleges have been hi-jacked by social movements that oppose free speech, and by liberal professors that are filling their minds with anti-American, and anti-Christian propaganda. The colleges are simply not what they were in your day. Real education is secondary. Brainwashing and social engineering now plays a role in virtually every segment of the curriculum. Be honest with yourself. Put the soul of your son or daughter first before the pride of watching them receive a sheepskin to hang on the wall.

Third, if you are wanting your child to be educated to ensure a good paying career in order to become wealthy, be sure that it is not your retirement that you are really thinking about. Be a parent/grandparent who would rather have saved kids than potentially wealthier kids who are not saved. While there is certainly no absolute guarantee they will be either rich or saved, the effort must be to see that they have every advantage toward being the Christian you always prayed they would be. Don’t urge them into positions where it will be extremely difficult for them to maintain their faith. Why must we keep losing seven or eight of every ten of our kids as they go through the educational experience?

And, really, isn’t every saved kid smarter than any who are unsaved? How smart is someone who would not prefer salvation and heaven over eternity separated from God.

Biden appeals to Muslims to help him defeat Trump

Democrat Joe Biden urged Muslim Americans to join him in the fight to defeat President Donald Trump. “I want to earn your vote not just because he’s not worthy of being president,” the presumptive presidential nominee told participants. “I want to work in partnership with you,
make sure your voices are included in the decision-making process as we work to rebuild our nation.” Biden also reiterated a pledge to overturn a Trump administration ban on travelers from several predominantly Muslim countries, calling it “vile.” (gopusa Eagle)

One wonders to what extent Biden will be obligated to them should he win in November?

“Teach these things…” (I Timothy 4:11; 6:2)

The Last Words

The current pandemic was anticipated at least ten years ago by the liberal Rockefeller Foundation. Here is the report:  https://rwer.wordpress.com/2020/05/28/lock-step-how-the-rockefeller-foundation-wants-to-implement-its-autocratic-pandemic-scenario/

The hardline requirements regarding Covid-19 may be history on Nov. 4 if Joe Biden is elected. In fact, a vaccine may be one of the first announcements made by him.

Isn’t it great that so few are getting the flu this year?

Thanks for visiting! Please be safe, but also be informed. All who are sick with Covid have our concern and prayers.
