The First Word

The wicked conceive evil;
    they are pregnant with trouble
    and give birth to lies.
15 They dig a deep pit to trap others,
    then fall into it themselves.
16 The trouble they make for others backfires on them.
The violence they plan falls on their own heads” (Psalm 7:14-16 NLT).

Sudden disappearance

Report on the CNN website: “There is no way to determine gender of a person at birth.” What has been known for thousands of years has suddenly disappeared from human knowledge. Amazing. Where did that knowledge go?

Of the very first child born to the human family, it was said by the mother who knew immediately: “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord” (Genesis 4:1). Such knowledge has seemingly escaped from current science and biology. Strangely, they can still determine and assign gender to your children’s toys and dolls.

A U.S. Senator from Louisiana was interviewed to provide some possible clues: “Boys have a penis; girls have a vagina,” he boldly proclaimed, to the astonishment of the woke educational community and all the CNN anchors.

Have doctors and nurses and mothers suddenly truly lost all historical and biological knowledge?

The Senator continued: “Girls have ovaries that produce ova; boys have testicles that produce sperm.” Hello, as some preachers would say.

Are we a nation that has suddenly begun to function totally under the auspices of the union of college professors and the media? Are they in complete control of the nation’s politics? What was the woke medical community’s response? Nary a word that I saw.

Next some unsuspecting couple might say, “We not know why baby come. Partner gradually get big and bigger. Then baby come! Big surprise.”

All previous knowledge of the human race seems to be evaporating. History only began a few years ago, maybe in 1972 with Roe v. Wade. Here’s today’s set of historical facts from the media: “Ummm…[sound of papers shuffling]…Well, there really doesn’t seem to be any facts today…Back to you, Chris.”

Is the utter stupidity of TV/Internet/movie/media personalities regressing us into an imaginary cultural jungle inhabited by creatures muttering “Oooga, Oooga” and scratching their underarms with knuckles worn from dragging on the ground?

As someone observed, once history and biology have been cancelled, all we will have left is what the leaders spoonfeed us via the media.

The real reason United Methodists split the blanket

They were too divided to serve under the name “United” any longer.

America’s third-largest Christian denomination—the United Methodist Church (UMC)—is splitting as conservative pastors aim to create a new denomination that will adhere to traditional biblical teachings.

That was the official word, but what is the real reason? It must be over the deity of Christ. Nope. The Trinity doctrine? Nay. The mode of baptism? Nyet. The reality of heaven and hell? Wrong again. The new denomination, to be called the Global Methodist Church (GMC), filed for formal separation over the UMC’s “growing acceptance of modern teachings on sexuality and gender.”

We saw it happening. It became obvious decades ago with the assertion of spiritual and denominational female leadership. The agenda: capture leadership for liberal feminists in certain prominent churches and denominational positions. Use language borrowed from the old N.O.W. and other feminist organizations. Twist word meanings and Scriptures to make it all sound authoritative and “compassionate.” Quote modern feminist authors. Cast traditional religious and societal understandings of authority as misguided and narrow. Set up straw targets like “patriarchalism.” Make biblical mandates and practice sound outdated. And finally, where were they? Embracing the LGBTQ agenda and evoking a denominational split.

There are lots of words and phrases like “equity” and “transformational leadership in the church” being tossed about with accommodating definitions. The current cultural climate is making women feel left out if they are not doing everything men have traditionally done, filling the same roles, serving in identical positions. It is homes that are being left out, husbands that are being socially emasculated, and children being ignored and left for others to raise. Can anyone truthfully say that following the cultural trends has moved Christianity in America closer to God’s plan for church and home and family?

Religious organizations must recognize the subtlety of our enemy. He won’t begin deception with the overturning of major doctrinal issues, but will feed them bite-size bits of feminist fantasies as though they were long misunderstood biblical mandates. We already see where it has taken science, education, girls sports, advertising, woke corporations, and politics in particular. Three lesbian women changed American politics last summer, vowing to make our citizens Marxists like them, and destroying the nuclear family in the process. They are now writing the curriculum for your child’s school, and churches are not out of their plans. Where are the conservatives that will stand up help lead America and our churches back to the Bible and God’s agenda for the home and church before other major denominations see themselves heading toward splitsville?

“Remember Lot’s wife,” Jesus warned. Perhaps she even encouraged Lot in his choices, but don’t forget—it was Lot who took her there. He should have known they were on the road to the lowest place on earth—Sodom. If you don’t want to go to Sodom, don’t pitch your tent in that direction.

More questions about the Bible that can be found in Searching the Scriptures:

  • Did Erasmus change words and move them around as he created the Greek Textus Receptus? (pp. 85-100)
  • What manuscripts did Erasmus use in developing the Textus Receptus? (pp. 89-90)
  • Are modern versions trying to remove salvation by the blood of Christ from the Bible? (pp. 232-235)
  • Why did some of the early English translations not have “obeys not the Son” in John 3:36? (pp. 277, 427)
  • Why are there fewer word counts in some Bible versions? (Answers are throughout)
  • Why are at least two publishers printing dictionaries to help with understanding of many words in the early English versions? (p. 327-330)
  • Why did Theodore Beza replace the phrase “O holy one” in Revelation 16:5 and replace it with “and shalt be” in the 1598 Textus Receptus and later in the KJV? (p. 70)
  • Was King James I the great moral and gracious king some today suggest? (pp. 151-163)
  • Why do the words “baptize/baptism” appear in the KJV rather than “immerse/immersion”? (pp. 134,135)

These and a host of other questions are answered in my book Searching the Scriptures: Merging Truth, Texts and Translations. 480 pages with almost 1000 references.

More biblical accuracy

Confirmed by other historical records and accounts, the siege and destruction of Lachish as we read in the Bible (“After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him…” 2 Chronicles 32:9) was that king’s preliminary battle before besieging Jerusalem. Remnants of the siege ramp by which Sennacherib’s army entered the city, are still visible today. As the Bible records, he intended to also conquer Jerusalem but lost most of his army to a death angel in the night. He decided to return to Nineveh with what he had left. Stone reliefs in Sennacherib’s palace in Nineveh have provided the king’s history in startling detail.

Recently, an inscription found on a pottery sherd at the Lachish site has the earliest alphabetic writing discovered in the southern Levant. The fragmentary inscription features a mere handful of letters inscribed on a tiny pottery sherd, measuring just 4 by 3.5 cm. The sherd is dated by radiocarbon to the 15th century B.C.E., or the first part of the Late Bronze Age.

Alphabetic writing was formerly thought not to have appeared in the southern Levant until the end of the Late Bronze Age, around the 13th century B.C.E. By contrast, the earliest alphabetic inscriptions from the Near East—the Proto-Sinaitic texts discovered in the ancient Egyptian turquoise mines of Serabit el-Khadem in Sinai—are generally dated to the 19th century B.C.E., more than half a millennium earlier. The new inscription from Lachish helps fill in this chronological gap, providing a critical “missing link” in our understanding of how the alphabet evolved and spread out from Egypt to other parts of the ancient world.

The inscription was discovered amid charred remains found on the floor of a monumental Late Bronze Age building at Tel Lachish. Image credit: Austrian Archaeological Institute/Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The Lachish inscription, first published in the journal Antiquity, was discovered in 2018 by a team of Austrian and Israeli archaeologists excavating at the famous biblical site. More info on the inscription can be found at the site below.

Home Schooling—as Old as the Reformation

“Population growth it seems, also has an impact on rates of literacy. It was not church schools nor the new secular foundations that carried the burden [in the 15th and 16th centuries, A. D.], of mass education. Numerically, their influence was slight. In the dales and downs of the countryside, and in the villages, it was mothers of families who passed on literacy to their children. Reading and writing were family skills.” – John F. H. New, The Renaissance and Reformation (1969), p. 139

Stand alone truth

“Your sports league may be a little too woke if it will freely do business with Communists in China and Cuba, but boycotts a US state that wants people to show an ID to vote.” – Senator Rand Paul

A stat you didn’t hear from your leftist congressman/woman: “Two thirds (67%) of all gun deaths in the U.S. are from suicide.” (Tucker Carlson) Ask your representative where over 90% of robberies/murders by guns are taking place. Why not focus on gun control in those areas instead of among NRA members in Podunkville who aren’t robbing or killing anyone?

Maxine Waters said publicly, with Nancy Pelosi’s approval, what President Donald Trump was falsely impeached for.

The duration of a mass shooting often depends on the arrival of a second gun. – Patriot Post

Assault rifle – n. – a political term used by morons to describe a small arms rifle (usually black in color) with certain cosmetic features that scare wussies. – Patriot Post

Heaven has a wall, a gate, and strict immigration policies. Hell has open borders. – Anonymous

Gun “buybacks” – When the government uses money it took from us under threat of force to “buy back” something it didn’t sell us in the first place. – Patriot Post

Remember: Those who told us we don’t need guns or walls have surrounded themselves with guns and walls. – Patriot Post

“Your children will go to public school…and they will be trained for somewhere around 15,000 hours in ungodly secular thought. And then they’ll go to Sunday school and they’ll color a picture of Noah’s ark. And you think that’s going to stand against the lies that they are being told?” – Paul Washer

In the eyes of the world, justice was rendered in the Minneapolis trial, yet the President still calls our citizens racists.

Teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for life. Give a man someone else’s fish and he’ll vote for you. – Patriot Post

“Science,” as the media and political class now practice it, has become little more than a means of generating apprehension and fear about progress. – David Harsanyi

“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” – Winston Churchill

A little T-I-C

  • This just in: Preparations are proceeding for passage of the Infrastructure Bill: “Equity Builders, Inc. are already busy constructing bridge pilings from Styrofoam. The mud bricks with straw for the paving are being installed by BLM Contractors, Inc. and should last through the summer before needing replacement, if Mr. Buttigieg will keep the trucks off of them. But not to worry, Antifa has saved the government tons of money by confiscating right-of-ways from small businesses and individual property owners. MLB players serving as pilots for United and Delta are flying in cartons of Gorilla glue from China for the cracks in our bridges, tunnels and highways, adding quality to our road construction projects. The government has allocated $63.49 in the ‘infrastructure’ bill for the update to our nation’s roads, bridges, and airports as part of their Build Back Better program. That should cover the entire cost of the necessary Gorilla glue. The remaining two trillion dollars are to purchase supporters (uh…that’s not as in ‘bridge supporters’).” – Observations of a Tennessee farmer
  • How to fight assumed racism and white supremacy: loot and burn a Foot Locker store.
  • Never interfere in a teenager’s knife fight. According to the media and authorities, it is their right to fight and kill each other if they so desire.

Things that will never happen

  • Finding a verse in the Bible that informs us that the twelve apostles, the household of Cornelius, and the J-B disciples in Ephesus were rebaptized later in the titles Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • A I Thessalonians 4:17 Rapture of the church that will include people of all religious persuasions.
  • A genuine religious awakening that will be led by female politicians.
  • The discovery of aliens living on Mars (or anywhere else, except maybe Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle).
  • The publication of crisp, unfuzzy UFO photos with clear reference points.
  • The discovery of an ancient first or second century biblical manuscript that ends with “Aww…just kidding.”
  • A popular televangelist moving to a modest home on your block.

Teaching Bible studies is the single most important thing your congregation can be involved in right now!

Time to stock up on IHML Bible studies

No other one-hour Bible study has enjoyed the consistent results of IHML over the years. Often copied but never duplicated. It is attractive, well written, and doctrinally sound. It will convince any open-minded person (and some whose minds are not so open) that the new birth is absolutely essential and that Acts 2:38 constitutes that experience. It’s possible that more souls have been won with this Bible Study than with any other single evangelism tool in the past 30 years. Discover how easy it is to share the plan of salvation with others. Available in both English and Spanish. English is available in both KJV and NIV.

AM Price 1-49 $1.75 each;  50-99 $1.50 each; 100 or more $1.25 each.

Guide For LivingIHML_GFL_Revised

A follow-up study for the new convert. This little booklet may be taught in lesson style, or given to the new convert to go through alone, filling in the blanks, and then bring back to you with any questions they may have. It covers the new birth—what has happened to them experientially—and walks them through what their responsibilities as new believers are now.

Padlocks, politicians, pastors and Texas Rangers

Grace Life Church in Alberta was fenced off and padlocked, and the pastor jailed—all because they were having in-person services.

Is that experience coming to a neighborhood near you? For sure, if we collectively let them do it. One pastor can’t stop this. It is going to take pastors standing together, joined by all Christian believers, plus freedom lovers of every stripe. Rolling over and playing dead may result in our being rolled over while not playing dead.

Come on, conservative politicians. Lead the way. Governor Abbot, do the right thing. Put a stop to what is going on at our border, even if it means challenging the Feds with Texas Rangers. It might take three or four Rangers to clean up the mess down there.

Pastors must make up their minds. Standing still and saying nothing may be pointing only to jail time. Cells are being emptied of radicals, rapists, murderers, and thieves—making room for Christians who want to continuing going to church and worshiping God.

The last words

• Two female U.S. Senators are calling for no white men to be appointed to government positions, or hired to work in government agencies. And just last year the call was going out for government personnel to “look more like America.” Hmmmm. Perhaps it is those who are crossing the border or making noise in our streets and burning businesses that they want appointed and hired.

• For a current education, be sure your children attend a “woke” college in order to learn that America has only a dark history, is filled with supremacists of one color or another, and now must become genderless, gunless, and gutless.

• Georgia on my mind. Just wanted to tell you folks over there that it looks like most of the country is with you on the voting law. Let the woke corporations rant and go political. Long live Pepsi! Long live sandlot baseball! Long live pickup basketball at the local park! Let freedom ring!

• Seen on a sign: “Due to Covid 19, rioters are asked to work at home and destroy their own stuff.”
